Investment Update

Q4 2024
15 Oct 2024

As we enter the last quarter of the year, our investment team reflects on how we’ve continued to see improving conditions in financial markets that underpin our optimism. Major central banks have begun the rate-cutting cycle and we’re beginning to see the effects of monetary policy cascade into the financial markets. The global economy, albeit more slowly, continues to grow.

We are, at the same time, conscious that markets move quickly and we continue to monitor carefully any events we believe might have an impact on our clients’ portfolios. We’re encouraged by the outlook, and some of our portfolio exposures already seen some of the benefits of improving conditions.

In our latest Investment Update we take a look at three key things. First up , we have introduced a new section, authored by Chief Investment Officer Martyn Surguy, where we provide an overview of performance. Staying true to one of our core principles to listen and respond, we want to share our thinking and the results of our convictions to our investors.

Next up, Ahmer Tirmizi, Head of Fixed Income Strategy, outlines the most important questions when looking at interest rates, considering their trajectory of the past few years and some of the major factors that influenced them.

And finally, Ben Kumar, Head of Equity Strategy, explores one of the questions our clients often ask us – the answer to which is based on one of our core investment principles.

Looking ahead, we believe, the outlook for portfolios is positive. Market behaviour has turned. “Rotation and rates” could be our three-word slogan.

Martyn Surguy, Chief Investment Officer
